#16 Creating a luxury career for new hires

What is it about your company that attracts new hires and can support retaining your current team?

I want to go over a few shifts we are making with hopes that we can inspire our team and also support creating luxury careers for new hires.

The state of great comfort and extravagant living, that is the definition of luxury.

Of course, we want to create comfort on a monetary level for our teams, but it goes beyond that. When I read the words ‘state of great comfort’, I thought about what my team’s daily lives look like in and outside of the salon.

So here are some things we are shifting to support it.

#1 People want to feel led, not micromanaged.

They want autonomy, they want to feel like they are in control of their lives. We get to make requests and compromise

#2 How we bring new hires that are new to the industry into our company.

We want to give them a voice immediately so they feel valued, seen, and heard. Gone are the days of working your way up the totem pole.

#3 Guidelines

Revamp/reconsider what you had set up previously. Dresscode, days off, vacation, lunch breaks, etc.

#4 No double booking

We’re seeing that this new generation of stylists doesn’t want to do this. What shifts can we make so they don’t get burnt out so quickly?

#5 No Saturdays

Flexible schedules and getting to spend time with their family and friends are something that our teams value so much. It’s a huge benefit to be able to offer.
